Your Mind is an Ocean

I.
"Your mind is an ocean," you said.
Would you then dare plunge into its depths,
Eyes wide open,
And forget to breathe,
Till the shuddering stars
Cast their broken rays to reel you in?

II.
I am
The interstice between the light and the dark
The tension between memory and forgetting.

I am
Loneliness and longing.

I am
Everything and nothing,
Illuminated by the sheer dust of dreams.

III.
If I could, I would
Give you the world
In a kaleidoscope,
A trinket with infinite secrets.

I would walk with you to the
Edge of the universe;
We will stare, eyes wide,
At the absurd beauty of Being.

IV.
Let these syllables
Dance on your tongue;
Deep-sea diamonds for the black nights.
You are safe on the shore.
