LITERAL
Of Loss
And it was almost funny,
(But really, more resonantly tragic)
How you gabbled on and on about your
Brand New Life -
New faces, new places,
New patented fun.
New mother-hens who cluck and fuss over
Your simplicity;
One of a kind.
(Like how I used to.)
I listened, smiling,
Giving the occasional emphatic nod and grin,
Bright and shiny.
All the while wondering if you'd notice the
False light in my eyes.
And the words I had, all perfectly lined up,
Sort of
Evanesced
Like those gauzy evenings we once shared,
Ruminating about life, love and
Loss.
